act/wood, the key link between CAD and act/cut for the 2,5-axis machining of wood panels

Beside its core activity that is sheet-metal working, Alma has been developing for several years an expertise specific to the 2,5-axis machining of wood panels. act/cut, its solution for programming flat-cutting machines has been adapted to the “wood routing” technology and represents a high-added-value work solution for manufacturers with large needs in part nesting such as sailing boat builders, furniture, caravan, camping-car, outdoor game or kitchen manufacturers, etc.

act/wood, optional module of the act/cut software, reinforces this solution by solving the problem of part preparation before programming, thanks to CAD import and machining assignment. Objective: to be able to machine any volume part designed with CAD. act/wood therefore combines two functions: geometry recognition and automatic machining.

Customer benefits

act/wood is an essential link in the CAD/CAM chain for machining wood panels; it combines openness (recovery of 3D models from nearly all CAD software), work expertise (taking into account of all technological processes specific to 2,5-axis machining) and ease of parametering for tool assignment.

Thanks to its double function (geometry recognition and automatic machining), act/wood saves lots of time. Indeed, very often users draw again the 2D parts from 3D models to be able to machine them, which can sometimes require one or two full-time employees according to the companies.
